Homemade Pizza

My Christmas gifts this year were strongly geared toward food — a cookbook, a handheld mixer, and a pizza stone & peel. My husband gave me the pizza equipment and was excited to see it in action for the first time today.

We decided to stick with the basics to start: a margherita pizza. I felt very fancy putting it together:

It stuck to the peel a little bit (oops!) and so the crust on one end was a bit wobbly. However, it was a pretty good starting point! We agreed that the crust was incredibly bland but otherwise good (next time: more salt!) and I wanted more and more flavorful sauce (the best part of pizza!). But hey, it worked pretty well and I enjoyed my dinner.
